Organic circularity: Connecting sustainably for a healthy future

In the run-up to 2050, when the global population is projected to reach roughly nine billion, we must all become more sustainable. The issue of how we will provide enough sustainably produced food for everyone is becoming increasingly urgent. Organic farming is a powerful solution.
The connection in organic farming
Organic dairy production is inseparable from organic beef production. Organic fruit and vegetables or dairy products in your product range it would make sense if you also offer organic meat products. Choosing organic products indicates commitment to the fully organic nutrient cycle; from plants to animal products.

The graphics show how plant circularity and meat circularity overlap and interconnect. Organic pig farming provides valuable manure that supports arable farming. The residue streams from arable farming are then used as feed for the pigs. In this closed system, residues are put to good use and nutrients in the soil are replenished without having to use chemical fertilisers.
In cattle farming, we see a similar cycle. Dairy cows, young animals and beef cattle graze on herb-rich grasslands and in meadows that are less suitable for arable farming. The manure from these animals nurtures the soil and biodiversity is increased.
In organic arable farming, we rely on animal manure because we do not use chemical fertilisers.

At De Groene Weg, we understand the dynamics of sustainable value chains like no other. For several years, we have worked intensively with organic farmers who embrace this circular concept. We invest in this collaboration to ensure that each link in the production value chain contributes to healthier soil, richer biodiversity and future-proof agriculture.
Working together for a sustainable future
When you choose organic fruit and vegetables and dairy products as a buyer, an organic meat supply is also created; this is the natural balance. By choosing a balanced range of organic products, you actively contribute to organic food production. This is the key to sustainable success: a healthy, circular farming system that is ready for the future.
Good to know: the natural balance in organic farming is related to the protein transition.
